An open-source R package mipplot has been recently developed to visualize the data of long-term climate mitigation scenarios. With simple commands under a user-friendly R language platform, this tool generates plots for any scenario dataset following IAMC scenario data format. The plots can be generated both by function calls in the R environment and by an interactive interface, which offers greater flexibility of inputs and suits both experts and non-experts.

Please find mipplot v0.3.0 here.

The plot outputs can be provided in multi-languages (in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese) to ensure that research results from IAM teams in different countries can be easily accessed by local policymakers and stakeholders (beta version). Synthesizing and communicating knowledge on climate change to policymakers and stakeholders is often difficult due to the complexity and diversity of underlying research. We hope mipplot can work as the “translation” instrument.
