To ensure the widest possible representation of modeling perspectives, IAMC is pleased to share this call with the global integrated assessment modeling community.
Background
The National Climate Assessment is a cornerstone of China’s periodic scientific evaluation of climate change, providing the essential evidence base for national climate strategies and pathways to achieve net-zero emissions and carbon neutrality. The NCA5-China, launched in 2025, is a comprehensive interagency initiative led by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). The collection of scenario data is hosted by the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21 (ACCA21).
Scope of Scenarios
We are seeking emissions and socio-economic scenarios generated by Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs), Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models, and other sectoral models that:
Submission Guidelines
To ensure consistency and comparability across the assessment, contributors are requested to follow the standardized IAMC-style reporting templates and variable definitions provided by the NCA5-China National Scenario Workgroup.
How to Submit
Research teams are invited to download the National Scenario Data Template and submit their results to the NCA5-China Secretariat via email. Teams can submit either IAM, CGE, or sectoral modelling results.
The NCA5-China author team appreciates the contribution of the modeling community in strengthening the scientific foundation of China’s climate assessment. Please distribute this note to other researchers who have been working on model-based decarbonization scenarios in China, since the aim is to make the widest possible selection of decarbonization scenarios accessible for quantitative assessments and figures for NCA5-China. However, submission to the database does not guarantee inclusion in the report, which depends on the discretion of the authors and needs of the assessment.
