PIK’s Research Department III Transformation Pathways is seeking a

Research project coordinator (m/w/d)

for a number of third party funded projects, among others a collaboration with the Center for Global Commons at University of Tokyo and RIKEN Research Institute starting as soon as possible.

The collaborative project will focus on managing the Global Commons within planetary boundaries. The position is funded until March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability if the collaboration is extended. Remuneration is in accordance with the German public tariff scheme (TV-L Brandenburg), salary group E 13. This is a full-time position with a weekly working time of 40 hours per week. Appointment is conditional on approval by the funding agency. The position can be filled on a part-time basis.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordination and management of collaborative research projects, including liaising with the project partners and supporting the implementation of the research agenda at PIK.
• Support in the acquisition of national and international third-party funding on the topic of sustainable development and transformation pathways within planetary boundaries, including the preparation of collaborations that build on existing research projects.
• Support for the preparation of project deliverables, reports, policy briefs and presentations, in correspondence with project partners and in close coordination with Prof. Dr. Elmar Kriegler and the research team at PIK.
• Organization of scientific and outreach events, with a focus on transformation pathways within planetary boundaries.
• Support for other third-party funded projects in the department, including project application and project acquisition and communication with potential funders.

Requirements**:**

• Master’s degree, e.g. in economics, social or natural sciences or a similar field of study

• Experience in the implementation of research projects and ideally in the acquisition of research projects

• Experience in organizing science communication and stakeholder interaction are welcome

• Experience in working with research administrations and funding organizations are an asset
