The role of Research Scientist Staff in CSIRO is to conduct innovative research leading to scientific achievements that are aligned with CSIRO’s strategies. You may be engaged in scientific activity ranging from fundamental research to the investigation of specific industry or community problems.
The Integrated Assessment Research Scientist role will join the Food Systems and Global Change Research Group in CSIRO’s Agriculture and Food Business Unit.
The position will elevate the contributions of integrated assessment modelling to inform agri-food systems transition pathways in Australia and the region, with a particular focus on transitions towards net zero emission targets and Australian regional land use change.
The appointee will build on their expertise of agri-food systems transformation and integrated assessments to support the identification of key challenges in agri-food systems, and design of transition pathway scenarios across various dimensions such as climate change, technological uptake and disruption, investments, sustainable diets and planetary boundaries.

**Your duties will include:**

Depending on the level of appointment, you will be responsible for a range of activities related to integrated assessment modelling.
CSOF5
• Lead integrated assessment model parameterisation and assumptions.
• Run integrated assessment models and analyse model outputs and/or summarise and interpret systems complexity in a manageable way to promote realistic, policy-relevant, alternative development pathways for agri-food systems in Australia and abroad.
• Assist in the planning and preparation of research proposals.
• Support the development of national and international research agendas related to net zero emissions pathways and integrated assessments in the agri-food sector.
• Produce scientific papers suitable for publication in high quality journals and for presentation at national and international conferences.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO’s scientific objectives.
• Other duties as directed.

CSOF6

• Produce high quality scientific papers suitable for publication in high quality journals and for presentation at national and international conferences.
• Provide training and support for capacity development of internal team, external project staff and in-country partners on integrated assessments, as required.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team to carry out tasks in support of CSIRO’s scientific objectives.
• Other duties as directed.
