IAMC Awards 2024: Call for Nominations

The Integrated Assessment Consortium (IAMC) solicits nominations for the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA), the Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the field of IAM (ECA), and the Award for Early Career Researcher (ECRA).The Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) is given for exceptional lifetime achievement in integrated assessment modeling. It recognises those who have devoted themselves productively and persistently to enriching our endowment of knowledge in integrated assessment modeling and/or communicating the methods and results of this discipline. The award is for a consistent lifelong contribution that has helped to shape the community either scientifically or as a network (and is thus not meant for individual contributions in a period of time or for a specific subject matter). Potential awardees are considered every year, but it is not expected that the award be given on a regular basis: it is given only in special cases. The LAA can be given only once to a single person.

The Award for Extraordinary Contributions to the field of IAM (ECA) is given for a specific extraordinary contribution during the past three years. It recognises those who have made outstanding scientific contributions to the field of IAM, and/or have made significant contributions to the IAM community formation, and/or have increased the impact of the IAM community. The prize is in principle awarded every year, but only if one or more awardees deserving the prize were nominated. The ECA can be given only once to a single person.

The Award for Early Career Researcher (ECRA) is given to the best contribution in the field of IAMs by an early career researcher for their published paper (first author) in a peer-reviewed journal. Every researcher not older than 37 years at the time of the nomination deadline can be nominated for this award without further proof of being early in their career. If a researcher has started working in the field only at an advanced age, their nomination will still be considered even if they are older than 37 years if it is accompanied by documentation that the researcher is still in their early career. In that case, the general expectation is that early career researchers have not published in the field for more than five years before the nomination deadline. The awarded paper is required to be published during the two years before the nomination deadline in order to be eligible for consideration. Nominations can be submitted by sending the paper’s complete reference and the nominee’s date of birth to the IAMC Secretariat. Submitters are encouraged to justify their choice. Self-nominations will not be accepted. The ECRA can be given only once to a single person.

Nominations

• Nominations are open at the individual level for all IAMC member delegates (thus multiple nominations from members from the same institution are accepted).
• Self-nominations are not accepted.
• Submissions include an explanation supporting the nomination.
• For the ECRA Award, nominations should be submitted by indicating the paper’s complete reference and the nominee’s date of birth to the IAMC Secretariat.
• Nominations are submitted confidentially to the Secretariat and will be treated as strictly confidential by the Evaluation Committee and the Secretariat.
• Nominations will be automatically disqualified in the event they are made public by the submitting party before a decision has been taken.

Nominations are sent by filling in the nomination form by May 30th, 2024.

Awards Announcement

In case there will be nominees deserving the recognitions, the Awards will be announced at the 17th IAMC Annual Meeting, during an Awards Ceremony taking place as a plenary session. In that occasion, also the winner of the Best Poster Presentation (BPA) at the IAMC Annual Meeting will be announced.
